Sol Purpose & New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)
Sol Purpose developed the largest community solar project on public housing in the United States. This project is emblematic of our work and powerful in its complexity, impact, and success.
PUBLIC BENEFIT & IMPACT:
Developed 1.82MW of solar across 27 NYCHA properties
Provided green job training and professional certifications for 21 NYCHA residents
Created 13 full-time green jobs for NYCHA residents
Provided discounted solar energy to over 450 households and over 100 to low-to-moderate income households
Created new public sector revenue streams through long-term solar leases
Contributed to the achievement of NYCHA’s sustainability goals
Funded scholarships for the Bard Microcollege at the Brooklyn Public Library
